We were sitting on our deck when the folks staying in the building next door told us that the Lummi Island Chili Cookoff was taking place that afternoon between 1:00 and 3:00. We didn't have any other plans, so we decided to head over there.

We got there about 1:30, but 2 of the 13 chilies were already out. It was only $5.00 for chili, lunch (hot dogs) and all the beer you could drink. We ate a little and sat down to relax
Then we decided to hike the Otto Preserve Trail. We had to get provisions:
But were able to make it up without any problems.
The trees were very impressive
Then we came back to listen to a little more music:
It was a nice afternoon.
